My first blog

Moments ago, I couldn't have even told you what a blog is and now look at me, I'm blogging away. Well, I'm not sure how often I'll even update to this page because I will likely more often just update by adding comments to Ben's blog. My name is Matt Boyer and I am teaming up with Ben Rainey to plant a church in Severna Park, MD. My wife Laurie and I have been through quite a journey in the decision-making process regarding this opportunity. And here we are, taking a HUGE step of faith, but fully expecting God to provide in every way.

Perhaps I can best sum up my feelings by sharing with you a page from my personal journal dated March 1st, 2006.

"At 30 years old, I feel as though my journey is only at it's beginning. Only weeks ago, Laurie and I decided together to leave our jobs, leave our recently purchased home, leave many of our friends and family and move two hours away to plant a church with no guarantee of income, jobs, or even a place to live... and I couldn't be more THRILLED!

Nervous?? Yes. Emotionally distraught?? Yes, that too. Uncertain about where we will live?? how we'll start a family?? where the money will come from?? Yes. Yes. Yes. But there is an unexplainable sense of peace in the midst of these uncertainties. It is as if Jesus Himself has sat down beside me and whispered words of encouragement into the depths of my soul.

You can do it. I am with you.

I have nothing to fear as long as you are with me Lord. I believe in you and I am continually reminded during this step of faith that true contentment is found only in sincere devotion to You."
